“A Porta”, Teatro Nacional D. Maria II, Lisbon

João Mota’s trust and creative freedom allowed Mónica Cid to develop each character through an extended process of visual research, drawing, experimentation, and collaboration. Each costume and prop emerged from careful observation of the characters’ personalities, gestures, and stage presence, shaping a visual language that moved between the theatrical, the poetic, and the absurd.

The close collaboration with the costume department, technical teams, actors, and all those involved in the production made this experience particularly meaningful. To this day, it remains one of the richest and most memorable creative collaborations of Mónica Cid’s artistic journey.
