Evita — Scenic Sculpture, Yellow Star Company, 2026
In 2026, Mónica Cid collaborated with artistic director Fred Klaus and sculptor Paulo Moura in the creation of a large-scale sculptural head of Evita for the musical production by Yellow Star Company.
Standing over three metres high, the piece was conceived as part of the visual and scenic universe of the show, which premiered on March 27 at Teatro Capitólio, Lisbon.
Under the artistic direction of Fred Klaus, who entrusted both artists with the development of this work, the sculpture was created within a short and demanding timeframe. Paulo Moura led the sculptural execution, bringing remarkable strength and character to the piece, while Mónica contributed to the development and realisation of the form.
This collaboration resulted in a striking stage element, where sculpture and theatre meet — an intense and memorable creative experience for all involved.
“Rescue II” from the series Beyond the Frame
Part of the ongoing Beyond the Frame series, Rescue invites a quiet pause rather than an explanation.
Within the familiar structure of the frame, a moment unfolds — one that gently questions the boundaries of what we think we know and recognise. A reaching, a gesture, a subtle shift that suggests the possibility of something beyond the visible.
At times, our experience of this world — as we understand it — can feel complete, contained. And yet, there are moments that seem to open a small gap, hinting at an unexpected extension of that reality.
Rescue lives within that space: between certainty and doubt, between what is seen and what might exist just beyond it.
