Beyond the Frame

The Beyond the Frame series, which began emerging in late 2024, marks a profound moment of reconnection—a joyful return to my creative practice, enriched by a deeper, more mature conceptual vision. This body of work explores the vital act of stepping away from the constraints and limitations that are imposed upon us, as well as those we implicitly impose upon ourselves.

Across different collections within this series—such as Dancers, Taking a Break, and Rescue—each piece speaks of moving beyond the norm and defying boundaries. Through full body figuration, these sculptures celebrate the vitality of human form and movement, capturing a sense of ultimate freedom.

By leaving their footsteps, or leaving a note behind and escaping the confinement of the physical frame, these characters embody the courage to reclaim one's own rhythm, transforming vulnerability into pure presence, joy, and self-expression.

Dancers

These pieces are part of an ongoing series of small figures who have lived long enough to feel FREE.

Beyond a certain age, these characters step out of familiar roles and quiet expectations. They move with confidence, curiosity, and pleasure — dancing wherever they find themselves, guided by the music they love and the moment they inhabit.

Listening through their headphones, they claim their own rhythm. They step beyond comfort zones, beyond invisible frames, embracing movement as an act of joy, presence, and self-expression.

Taking a Break

Part of the Beyond the Frame series, these pieces reflects a simple yet radical gesture: PAUSING.

Perched lightly on the edge of the frame, she steps out of urgency and routine, allowing herself a moment of stillness. Breathing in, breathing out — extending the “be back soon” into something softer, slower, and entirely her own.

Leaving a note that reads “Pause for an indefinite time,” the figure steps fully outside the frame and into stillness. Seated in meditation, she chooses presence over productivity — suspending urgency and allowing time to expand.

With a brief note — “I’m gone!” — the figure slips outside the frame and hides just beyond view. It is a gentle refusal of expectation, a small rebellion that reclaims space, freedom, and self-direction.
