My approach to modelling is much the same as my approach to drawing: it is an act of deep observation. I focus on feeling the primary gesture or action, capturing the essence of the movement without the immediate need for a perfect resemblance. My attention is fixed entirely on what the subject is doing, and the "how" of their movement.
To demand an exact likeness in these brief moments of observation would be to treat myself as little more than a camera or a 3D printer - and I am neither!
Seeking a specific, predetermined result only creates an unnecessary pressure of expectation. For me, that pressure is a block; it pulls me away from the present. By letting go of the outcome, I can remain entirely focused on the "now," allowing the work to emerge naturally from the experience of observing.
